“Man, sometimes it takes you a long time to sound like yourself”
What does this quote have to do with therapy? Everything. We are shaped by our families, cultures, and experiences. Along the way, our true selves can get buried under the expectations and formulas of others. Therapy is a space to discover our authentic selves. What would it be like to sound like ourselves?
Trauma—especially complex trauma—shapes how we think, feel, and relate to others. It creates struggles, obstacles and disruptive thought patterns. Therapy helps untangle the roots of trauma. As we move toward healing and integration we get closer to our true essence. This process can feel uncomfortable at times—but it also opens the door to curiosity, growth, and choice.
Over time, we can begin to embrace the whole of our experiences, deepen our self-awareness and cultivate the skills to create the life we envision.
I’m here to support you in your journey. My approach is grounded in empathy, respect, and creating a safe, collaborative space where your experiences, values, and goals guide our work together.
I work with adults navigating complex trauma, PTSD, anxiety, depression, anxiety, grief, life transitions, mood disorders and relationship challenges, including those within the LGBTQ+ community.
My training includes:
EMDR - Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR) is a a highly effective therapy for trauma resolution designed to help individuals process and recover from traumatic experiences and distressing memories. The therapist guides the client through recalling traumatic memories while simultaneously focusing on bilateral stimulation, such as guided eye movements, or auditory tones.
This process helps desensitize emotional reactions to the memories and reprocess them with less discomfort, enabling healthier coping instincts. EMDR is commonly used to treat post-traumatic stress disorder (PTSD), complex trauma, anxiety, depression and other related mental health struggles.
Parts Work Therapy - This therapy focuses on addressing the various "parts" or aspects of an individual's personality or psyche. These parts can represent conflicting feelings or behaviors often rooted in past painful events. The goal is to help individuals understand, heal, and integrate these parts, fostering self-compassion and balance. It is often used to address trauma, internal conflicts, and emotional regulation issues. I have witnessed remarkable results when combining Parts Work with EMDR.
DBT - Dialectical Behavior Therapy (DBT) combines cognitive-behavioral techniques (CBT) with mindfulness practices and emphasizes simultaneously balancing acceptance and change.

My former baseline of anxiety, self-doubt and insecurity has been transformed into one of peace and self acceptance. I am enjoying a solid sobriety that always felt out of reach. My work has improved and I now have skills to navigate issues for the best outcomes. I have disentangled myself from toxic relationships and my current relationships are thriving. I could not have done this without Carmen. She held me accountable in a way that inspired me to be a better version of myself, while allowing me to feel totally accepted when I struggled or faltered.
